Ex-MP Syed Mokbul Hossain dies

Dr Syed Mokbul Hossain Lechu Mia, freedom fighter and former Member of Parliament from Sylhet-6 constituency (Gopalganj-Beanibazar), has died.

He breathed his last at 9:45pm on Thursday at a city hospital.

He was 76.

His only son Syed Tanvir Hossain confirmed the news.

He was elected MP as independent candidate for two times from Sylhet-6 (Beanibazar-Golapganj) constituency in 1986 and 2001.
In 2001, he defeated former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid.
