MPO-listed teachers will also get incentive

The MPO-listed teachers are going to get 5 percent financial incentive announced by the government. Government employees as well as pensioners and MPO teachers will be paid this incentive from July.
A circular in this regard will be issued at the end of this month or at the beginning of next month.
According to sources in the Finance Department, the work of preparing a summary in this regard has already been started. It will be recommended to include pensioners and MPO teachers in this incentive. Financial issues are now under review. A summary will be sent to higher levels of the government for approval by the end of this month. Whenever the notification is issued, the 5 percent incentive will be paid to government employees, pensioners and MPO teachers along with July salary.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced a new incentive of 5 percent for government employees while addressing the proposed budget for fiscal year 2023-24 in the National Parliament on June 25.
The Prime Minister said, “I request the Finance Minister to consider giving 5 percent of the basic salary as a special salary to the existing government employees. Hope, the Finance Minister will accept the matter. We will give them 5 percent of basic salary as special incentive.”
Sources said besides the government employees, the inclusion of MPO teachers will result in an annual additional cost of around Tk 5,000 crore to the government. This money will be paid from this current budget.
It was learned that the number of government officials and employees in the country is about 14 lakhs. Also, thousands of pensioners are former government employees. Apart from this, there are about 30,000 MPO-affiliated educational institutions in the country. There are more than five lakh teachers and staff in the institutions. Among them, there are 3,66,715 teachers-employees under MPO under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE). Under the Directorate of Madrasa Education, there are about 1,65,000 teachers and staff under the MPO. And there are more than 20,000 teachers and employees in technical MPO. Like government employees, they also get annual increment, Eid allowance and Baisakhi allowance.
