Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal hoped that two cases of the 2009 Pilkhana carnage will be disposed of quickly.

He expressed the hope after laying floral wreaths at the graves of the martyrs of the Pilkhana massacre at Banani Military Graveyard on Sunday (February 25) morning.

The home minister said, “There was a big massacre in Pilkhana. It was a huge task to complete the investigation into the massacre. You have already seen the preliminary trial, and the final trial will end soon as well. It entirely depends on judicial proceedings.”

“The decision the court will deliver will be the final decision. You know our court is independent, and we expect a fair trial accordingly,” he added.

On February 25, 2009, several hundred Bangladesh Rifles or BDR (now Border Guard Bangladesh) men staged an armed revolt at the Darbar Hall of the force’s Pilkhana Headquarters in Dhaka. They killed 74 people, including 57 army officers.
