Shakib becomes father of baby girl

Sport Correspondent: Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has become father of a baby girl. His wife Umme Ahmed Shishir on Monday morning (Bangladesh time) gave birth to their first child at a hospital in USA.

Shakib`s family sources said both the mother and the new-born are well and have nothing to be worried.

However, the number one allrounder in all three cricket formats is still on his way to New York. He left Dhaka on Sunday night to be with his wife during the delivery of their first child. He is expected to reach to the new born around 8.00pm today.

 

"On this beautiful Sunday, the 8th of November, 2015, Shishir and I have been blessed by the Almighty with a piece of heaven...Shishir and our little princess are both in good health. Thank you for all your sincere prayers, kind thoughts and warm wishes...Please pray for us and especially our daughter so that she can grow to her full potential with humility, compassion and love for all. Ameen," Shakib wrote on his Facebook page.

The Bangladesh vice-captain who starred in Bangladesh`s 145-run win in the first one-day international of the three-match series against Zimbabwe in Dhaka grabbing 5-47, his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs, will miss the remaining two matches.

The couple got married on 12 December 2012. After their marriage, Shishir changed her name as Sakib Ummey Al Hasan.
