Afghanistan spinner Noor banned for 12 months

The International League T20 (ILT20) has banned Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad for 12 months for a breach of contract with his franchise, Sharjah Warriors.

Noor has become the second Afghanistan player to be given such a ban, after Naveen-ul-Haq, who was also given a similar punishment.

Noor was retained by the Warriors ahead of the first season, but refused to sign the retention notice in a bid to play in the SA20.

The refusal by the young spinner forced the hand of the Warriors, who approached the ILT20 on the matter.

The initial ban for Noor was set for 20 months, but was later trimmed down as he was a minor while signing the contract with Warriors for the first season, it was reduced to 12.

"Noor played for Sharjah Warriors in Season 1 of the ILT20 (January-February 2023) who sent him a retention notice on the same terms and conditions in accordance with the Player Agreement terms ahead of Season 2."
