USA beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets

Bangladesh suffered a five-wicket defeat to the United States of America in the first match of three-match T20 International series at Prairie View Cricket Complex in Huston, Texas on Wednesday (May 22).

Asked to bat first, Bangladesh team managed to score 153 runs losing six wickets. In reply, Harmeet Singh and Corey Anderson's unbeaten 62 run stand off just 28 balls helped USA create history.

This is USA's maiden victory in T20I's over a full-time test nation.

Corey Anderson-Harmeet Singh's 28-ball 62-run partnership changed the fortunes of the match. Harmeet scored 33 off just 13 balls and Anderson scored 34 off 25 balls. This is a record partnership for the United States for the sixth wicket.

Despite losing the first wicket by 27 runs, USA counter-attacked in the second wicket partnership. When Rishad Hossain broke the pair by sending Andries Gous back, Bangladesh side returned to a relief. Gous took 23 runs.

Bangladesh bagged wickets before USA’s 100 runs and put the hosts under a pressure. But Anderson-Harmeet kept the wheels of the match running. Mostafizur took two wickets for Bangladesh giving 41 runs.

Earlier, Towhid Hridoy hit a 47 ball-58 to help Bangladesh propel past 150.

Towhid Hridoy took highest 58 runs. He smashed two boundaries and four over boundaries. Veteran Mahmudullah Riyad made second best 31 off 22, hitting two fours and one six.

For USA, Steven Taylor was the most successful bowler for USA with 2-9 from three overs while Saurabh Netravalkar, Ali Khan and Jessy Singh picked up one wicket apiece.
