Bangladesh lose series to USA

Bangladesh cricket team lose T20I series to USA ahead of T20 World Cup 2024, fail to chase down 145 after losing 5 wickets for 22 runs at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston.

Chasing an average target of 145 runs, Bangladesh looked well on course to chase down the target as they reached 106-4 in the 15th over with experienced duo Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah were at the crease to help the visitors level the series. But the visitors failed to reach the target at the end as they lost remaining six wickets for just 32 runs.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan were the top scorers. Shanto took 36 runs hitting two boundaries and an over-boundary while Shakib scored 30 runs. A total of seven players of the team failed to reach double figure in this match. Of them, Soumya Sarkar and Tanzim Hasan returned to pavilion without any runs.

USA pacer Ali Khan was the chief wrecker in the Bangladesh innings as he claimed 3-25 in his 3.3 overs while Saurabh Netravalkar and Shadley van Schalkwyk took two wickets each.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first in the 2nd T20I against USA on Thursday.
