T20 World Cup: Bangladesh beat Netherlands by 25 runs

Shakib Al Hasan’s sensational half century propelled Bangladesh to beat Netherlands by 25 runs at the Twenty20 World Cup at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent, USA on Thursday (June 13).

Following the victory Bangladesh edged closer to confirming its second-round qualification of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Bangladesh has lost the toss and were sent to bat first by Netharlands captain Scott Edwards. The Tigers made 159-5 in their 20 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan went on to finish undefeated on 64 off 46 deliveries, having crunched nine fours as international cricket returned to Arnos Vale for the first time in 10 years. He hit nine boundaries.

In reply, the Netherlands managed to score 134 losing eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs in Group D game.

With one game remaining, Bangladesh needs just two points to qualify for the “super eight” stage. The Tigers will face Nepal team on Monday. The Netherlands also needs a win against Sri Lanka on the same day, but will also depend on Bangladesh’s result for its chances of qualifying.

Shakib Al Hasan was given man of the match award for his outstanding performance.
