Bangladesh reach Super 8 of T20 World Cup

Bangladesh has become the final nation to book their place in the Men's T20 World Cup Super 8s after surviving a scare to beat Nepal by 21 runs in St Vincent.

The victory, Bangladesh’s third in the group phase, propelled them to the Super 8 berth for only the second time in the tournament’s history. This came to a good news for the country at a moment when it is celebrating Muslim’s second biggest festival Eid-ul-Azha.

Last time they moved to the second round of the tournament was in 2007, which was the inaugural edition of the tournament.

The Tigers were dismissed for 106 after being inserted with no batter passing 17. Nepal's attack focused on the stumps and got their rewards.

The Bangladeshi bowlers defended 106 runs in the nail-biting match. Nepal finished at 85 with 4 balls to spare.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib starred with the ball scalping four wickets, while Mustafizur Rehman took three wickets.

For Nepal, Kushal Malla was the top scorer with 27 runs, and Dipendra Sindh Airee scored 25 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 17 runs while Mahmudullah and Rishad Hossein scored 13 each.
Bangladesh however will get India, Australia and Afghanistan as their opponents in the Super 8 phase.
