Jimmy Neesham set to join Fortune Barishal for BPL final

New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham, who recently concluded his campaign in the ongoing SA20 League with Pretoria Capitals, is set to join Fortune Barishal for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Final.

While Neesham's Instagram story confirmed his participation in the BPL, there was initial speculation regarding which team he would represent. Some fans speculated that he might join Khulna Tigers, who advanced to the second Qualifier after defeating Rangpur Riders by 9 wickets, reports cricfrenzy.com.

However, Khulna Tigers' media manager Fahim Muntasir dismissed such claims, stating he had no information regarding Neesham joining their squad. This fueled speculation that Neesham might be heading to either Fortune Barishal or Chittagong Kings.

Later, a reliable source from Barishal confirmed to Cricfrenzy that Neesham would indeed play for them in the final.

Fortune Barishal secured their spot in the BPL final after a dominant 9-wicket win over Chittagong Kings.

Neesham is expected to fill the void left by Pakistan’s all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who has been instrumental throughout the tournament, claiming 20 wickets in 11 matches with his medium-pace bowling.

The BPL final will be held on February 7 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, where Fortune Barishal will face either Chattogram Kings or Khulna Tigers. Neesham is expected to join the Barishal squad on the morning of February 4.
