Miraz made Bangladesh`s new ODI captain

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Mehidy Hasan Miraz as their next One-Day International (ODI) captain.

He has been given the charge of the team for a year replacing Nazmul Hossain Shanto.

Shanto is now in charge of the Test team, Miraz of the ODIs, and Liton Das of the T20s.

Earlier, Shanto stepped down from the T20 captaincy last year, and then BCB appointed Liton as the captain.

BCB's head of cricket management, Nazmul Abedeen, said, "The Board felt that Miraz's consistent performances with the bat and ball, his ability to fight and inspire the team and his energetic presence on and off the field make him an ideal candidate to lead the ODI side during a transitional time.

Miraz is currently ranked fourth among all-rounders in the ICC ODI rankings, with 1,617 runs and 110 wickets in 105 ODIs, which is the highest among any Bangladeshi player.
