Bangladesh bat first against Sri Lanka in 1st Test

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto chose to bat first after winning the toss in the two-match Test series opening game against Sri Lanka at Galle International Cricket Stadium today.

The match between the two sides at the Galle International Cricket Stadium is the first of the 2025-2027 World Test Championships.

The match began at 10:30 am Bangladesh time on Tuesday (June 17).

Allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz was left out of the game after failing to gain his match fitness due to a fever.

Liton Das returned to the squad as it was expected after missing the last Test series against Zimbabwe.

Sri Lanka handed debuts to two cricketers--top-order batter Lahiru Udara and ambidextrous spinner Tharindu Rathnayake.
