Sports Correspondent, DHAKA, Jan 28: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has stood against the ‘Big 3’ proposal put forward by a working group of the Finance & Commercial Affairs committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
BCB reiterated its position regarding issues pertaining to full member rights of status and participation during a discussion on a draft position paper at ICC meeting being held at its headquarter in Dubai, UAE.
The paper seeks considerable structural changes to the ICC and its governance, future tours programme and Test cricket.
“We have communicated to the ICC Board that the BCB will not endorse any proposal that compromises Bangladesh’s full member rights in terms of status and participation,” speaking from Dubai, BCB Acting CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdury said.
“Bangladesh was the only full member nation to take a stand on this issue,” Nizam Uddin added.
The proposals, drafted by the ICC`s Finance & Commercial Affairs (F&CA) committee suggest the formation of a four-man executive committee, on which the boards of England, India and Australia would be guaranteed a place. The other position would be selected by the three boards annually.
The Future Tours Programme, which guarantees regular fixtures between all full ICC members over a cycle, would be abandoned in favour of bilateral agreements.
