Dhaka, Dec 12 (risingbd24.com)—World`s top one-day all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan tied the knot on Wednesday with Umme Ahmed Shishir amid tight security measures.
The bride is a Bangladeshi American studying software engineering at the University of Minnesota in the United States.
Guests from both sides thronged Hotel Ruposhi Bangla from 7pm although the bride herself came in around 6:45pm. The bridegroom, however, showed up nearly two hours later.
The couple had their Akd (marriage contract) completed with a Tk 20 lakh Kabin (the deed of marriage contract under Muslim law).
They were seen together watching the lone T20 international against West Indies at Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium on Monday. The former skipper introduced his would-be wife to his teammates after the match.
Several media reports suggested the all-rounder and Shishir met when Shakib went to England to play county cricket for Worcestershire in 2010.
Bride Shishir hails from Narayanganj and her family immigrated to the United States when she was only 10 years old.
Shakib was introduced to Shishir after he went to England to play county cricket. Later, intimacy was grown between them.
Shakib`s chronic shin injury had ruled him out of the five-match ODI series and T20 match against West Indies.
He is expected to recover within four to six weeks, but there is a chance he may miss the second edition of BPL which starts from Jan 17 next year.
