Sports Correspondent: Bangladesh cruised into the final of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup 2015 with a 1-0 win over Thailand in the second semi-final held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Friday.
Nasiruddin Chowdhury scored the goal for Bangladesh from a corner in the 39th minute of the game in the Stadium.
The second semifinal of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup was started at 5:00 pm on the day.
In the 20th minute Bangladesh winger Zahid Hossain chipped the ball in the middle of the box but Hemanta Vincent and Emily both missed the line.
Forward Sohel Rana in the 23rd minute, tapped a floating ball, but the ball defelcted off the feet of a Thailand defender.
Bangladesh skipper Mamunul Islam curved a corner from the right hand flag in the 39th minute and - unmarked Nasiruddin Chowdhury tapped the ball in the near post (1-0).
Mamunul Islam saw his 20 yarder go wide off the side post in the 56th minute.
Thailand midfilder Pimkoon Jaturong curved a free kick from 25 yards out and skipper Parmpak Pakorn headed direct to Bangladesh goalie Sohel.
Bangladesh survived a scare in the 65th minute as Pakron hit the crosspiece from the edge of the box.
Bangladesh first played against Thailand back in 1976 and till date has played 14 ties losing 9, winning two and drawing three.
Bangladesh will play final against Malaysia on Sunday next at the same stadium.
