Sport Desk: Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim made a highest-ever World Cup partnership for Bangladesh to set a 276-run target for England in the 33rd match of Pool A clash at the Adelaide Oval on Monday.


Bangladesh scored 275 runs for seven wickets after they were sent to bat first.

Riyad became the first Bangladesh batsman to score a World Cup century when he took a single off Stuart Broad’s 3rd delivery of 44th over.


The 29 year right hand batsman reached his maiden ODI century off 131 balls hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes.

He was run out adding more 3 runs at the career-best 103.

Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim added 141 runs in the 5th wicket partnership which is highest-ever World Cup partnership for Bangladesh in any wicket.

Mushfiqur Rahim who bagged his 23rd half century scored 89 runs off 77 balls with 8 fours and 1 six.

Mahmudullah also built a 86-run in the third wicket partnership with Soumya Sarkar after Bangladesh lost opener Tamim Iqbal (2) and Imrul Kayes (2) who called into the Bangladesh squad in recent days as a replacement for the injured Anamul Haque, for 8.

Soumya added 40 runs off 52 balls hitting 5 fours and a six. Later Sabbir Rahman contributed 14 more to put a decent total of 275 runs.

English pacers James Anderson and Chris Jordan claimed two wickets each for 45 and 59 runs respectively.
