Sport Correspondent: Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar smashed his first One Day International century in the third and final ODI of a three-match series against Pakistan in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The 22-year left-hand batsman bagged his first ODI century in his tenth match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. He played 94 balls to reach his hundred hitting 11 fours and 4 sixes.
Soumya became the fourteenth Bangladeshi batsman to score a century in ODI cricket. It was the 34th ODI century for Bangladesh.
Earlier, the opener completed his fifty off 63 balls hitting 6 fours and a six. Soumya also piled up 145 runs in the opening partnership with Tamim Iqbal.
Soumya and Mushfiqur Rahim made an unbeaten 97-run partnership in the third wicket to beat Pakistan by 8 wickets in the match.
Soumya was unbeaten on 127 off 110 balls with 13 fours and 6 sixes while Mushfiqur on 49 off 43 balls hitting 6 fours.
With the win, Bangladesh, for the first time, whitewashed Pakistan in the 3-mtach ODI series.
