Shakib, Kamrul lead Christchurch Test in balance

Sport Desk: Shakib Al Hasan's three-for and two more wickets from Kamrul Islam Rabbi led Bangladesh's fightback in balancing the second Test of a two match series against New Zealand in Christchurch.

Shakib claimed 3 wickets for 32 while Kamrul 2 for 48 in the second day on Saturday at Hagley Oval.

Besides, one wicket each from Taskin Ahmed and Mehedi Hasan Miraz forced the Blackcaps to finish the rain-hit second day at 260 for 7. Henry Nicholls and Tim Southee were unbeaten at 56 and 4 when stumps called early for rain.

The hosts are still 29 runs away with 3 wickets from Bangladesh's first innings of 289.

Three Kiwis batsmen hit half centuries in the second day. They are Ross Taylor, Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls who scored 77, 68 and 56 (not out).

The hosts are leading the two-match series 1-0 as they won the first match in Wellington by 7 wickets.
