Fahad youngest FIDE Master of Bangladesh

DHAKA, July 18: Mohammad Fahad Rahman has become the country`s youngest FIDE Master in chess. He has received the FIDE Master award only at ten years.

Bangladesh Chess Federation said this in a press release on Thursday.

Fahad Rahman, the wonder boy of Bangladesh chess, clinched the title in the Under-10 group of the 14th ASEAN Age Group Chess Championship in Chiang Mai, Thailand in June last.

Fahad earned 7.5 points taking part in nine games of the 14th ASEAN Age Group Chess Championships. He scored the highest rating points (2034) among all 43 chess players who took part in the competition.

Fahad took part in Standard, Rapid and Blitz parts of the competition. He, however, got Bronze in Rapid Chess competition.

Earlier, Fahad won gold medal taking part in the Asian School Chess Competition held in Delhi last December.

It may be mentioned that Walton, Bangladesh`s internationally renowned brand of electronic and electric products, and automobiles manufacturing, has been sponsoring Fahad Rahman.
