Sixers beat Dynamites in BPL opener

Sports Correspondent: The newcomer Sylhet Sixers thrashed defending champion Dhaka Dynamites by nine wickets in the opening match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sylhet International Stadium, Sylhet on Saturday.

Being invited to bat first, the World's no. 1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan led Dhaka Dynamites managed to score 136 runs losing seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

In Chase, all-rounder Nasir Hossain led Sylhet Sixers scored 137 runs losing just a wicket with remaining 19 balls left.

Sylhet's opener Upul Tharanga (unbeaten) bagged 69 runs off 48 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes in the innings. Another opener Andre Fletcher scored 63 runs off 51 balls which includes 5 fours and 3 sixes, before he was returned by Adil Rashid.

Sylhet's Icon cricketer Shabbir Rahman (unbeaten) scored 2 runs off 2 balls.

Earlier, Dhaka Dynamites wicketkeeper scored 32 runs off 28 balls which is the best for the side. Captain Shakib Al Hasan bagged 23 runs off 21 balls while Evin Lewis scored 26 runs off 24 balls. Cameron Delport bagged socred 20 runs off 13 balls while Kieron Pollard scored 11 runs off 7 balls.

Mosaddek Hossain, Adil Rashid and Abu Hider Rony scored 6, 3 and 7 runs respectively. At the very beginning of the match, Mehedi Maruf hit a duck and returned to the pavilion.
