Bangladesh set 140-run target for India

Sports Desk: Bangladesh set a 140-run target for India their first match against India in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 at the R Premadasa Stadium of Colombo in Sri Lanka on Thursday.

Tigers managed to score 139 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Opener Tamim Iqbal scored 15 runs off 16 balls with two fours while another opener Soumya Sarkar 14 off 12 with a six and a four.

Liton Das bagged 34 runs off 30 balls with three fours. Mushfiqur Rahim scored 18 runs off 14 balls which includes two fours and a six.

Dashing batsman Sabbir Rahman hit a brilliant innings of 30 runs off 26 balls. Which includes three fours and a six.

For India, Jaydev Unadkat earned three wickets of 38 runs and Vijay Shankar hit two wickets off 32 runs.

Shardul Thakur and Yuzvendra Chahal also shared a wicket for 25 and 19 runs respectively.

It is the first match for the Tigers. But India are facing their second match in the series as they suffered a five-wicket loss to the host Sri Lanka in their opening fixture on Tuesday.

On Thursday, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first.

The trophy, which was last held in 1998, then a 50-over affair, returns after a period over almost 20 years. It is being organised to mark the 70 years of Sri Lankan independence and this time, it will be a T20I tri-series.

Across seven games, the three teams will battle for the title which starts from March 6 (Tuesday) and the final will be held on March 18 (Sunday). All the games will be played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
