Ex-football star Ronaldo has split from the wife who gave him a second chance when he was caught in a motel with three transvestites.

The former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan striker, 36, and Bia Anthony confirmed they had ended their seven-year marriage.

They said today: “We announce our formal ­separation.

"Our love, friendship and mutual admiration will remain unchanged.”

The couple, who have two daughters, split in 2008 when the Brazilian World Cup-winner was caught with three cross-dressing hookers in Rio de Janeiro.

Three-time Fifa World Player of the Year Ronaldo apologised but insisted he was straight and thought the prostitutes were women.

Lawyer Bia dumped him but they were reconciled soon afterwards.

Ronaldo was tonight flying to Uruguayan resort Punta del Este to celebrate New Year’s Eve with mates.
