The historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman encouraged the people of Bangla. That speech guided the nation to cross the venturous way during the war time.

Bangabandhu's index finger became a symbol of the country's independence and a comprehensive guide to the future. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) now is building a sculpture to reflex the glorious struggle.

A sculpture of 50 feet high index finger of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is being built to mark the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence. It will be the largest one in the country.

The sculpture will be displayed at the final match of the inter-ward sports competition of DSCC in the National Stadium on Tuesday. Later it will be permanently placed in front of Dhaka South City Corporation.

Mosaddek Hossain Zahid, president of the committee and a ward councilor at DSCC, said Bangabandhu raised his index finger and called for our independence through his speech. "This index finger of Bangabandhu is an inspiration for us. Every time I see his index finger, I think of Bangabandhu's ideology."

The cricket team of ward number-4 and ward-11 will face each other at the outer stadium of the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 10:00am on Tuesday. Later, the football teams of Ward-9 and Ward-24 will face at 4:00pm in the same venue.
