Disciplined bowling can secure the Test match: Taijul Islam

It’s tough to predict the ultimate result of the Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Kandy. In reply to Bangladesh’s first score of 514-7, Sri Lanka gathered 229 losing three wickets at the end of the day.

The host still trailed by 312 runs against the Tigers. There is nothing special for the bowlers in the pitch. Batsmen are facing the balls easily. Is it possible to win the match by Bangladesh?

Bangladesh bowler Taijul Islam opined that it is possible to win Test match doing disciplined bowling. He replied the question of risingbd at the end of today’s last session.

Taijul Islam: To be honest.. If we consider the current situation specially the wickets. There is nothing to do special for the spinners or pacers. We have to maintain disciplined bowling. If we can do that checking run.. then we can expect that we will be able to secure a winning situation.

In that case, what will be the plan?

Taijul Islam: The wicket is good, very good. Our tomorrows plan will be- disciplined bowling putting importance on fielding. May be - we will play tomorrow to win the game. But we have to remain alert so that we don’t miss any scope.

What was the problem with the review that you did not take?

Taijul Islam: Actually, that was a very big turn. That’s why I was confused. Losing a review at that time could have been a problem. It was seemed that the ball would miss due to large turn. That’s why the review was not taken.

Taskin returned to bowling after a long gap. How did you see him?

Taijul Islam: He did good bowling. He did aggressive bowling keeping line-length. Hope- he will be able to do that tomorrow too. Then, that will be better for our team.

Bangladesh playing the match with five bowlers. Are you in a little-bit relive mood?

Taijul Islam: Of course. It is better to have more bowlers to play Tests. The conditions here are very hot. In this case, having five bowlers is an advantage for me or other bowlers.

Daniel Vettori is absent. Now you are working with Shohel Islam. How much relief you are getting while work?

Taijul Islam: We’ve never had too much of spin coach. Most of the time we had worked with Shohel Bhai, personally. When, we face any problem Shohel Bhai can understand easily. His presence is good for me. Inshallah something better will happen.

Were there any communication problems with Vettori?

Taijul Islam: Not actually. It would be little bit tough to speak in English but listening and understanding was not a problem at all.
