Indian cricketer’s mother, sister die of Covid-19

Indian women's cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy's family suffered another massive loss as her sister passed away due to complications related to the coronavirus, her former coach Irfan Sait broke the news on social media.

Vatsala Shivakumar, 45, died of COVID-19 at a private hospital in Chikkamagaluru, just 2 weeks after Veda's mother succumbed to the virus.

Veda's sister was admitted in the ICU but was she was shifted to the general ward on Wednesday as her condition improved. But Vatsala died a few hours later.

She is survived by a son, father, two sisters and a brother. Her husband had died a few years ago.

Veda, who tested negative for Covid-19 last month, had earlier informed about her mother's death on social media and thanked her fans for the condolence messages on her feed.

“Appreciate all the messages I have received about the loss of my Amma. As you can imagine my family is lost without her. We now pray for my sister.

"I have tested negative & appreciate if you can respect our privacy. My thoughts & prayers go out to those going through the same!,” Veda tweeted.
