Bangladesh women’s football team beat India by 3-0 goals in their third match of the ongoing SAFF Championship at Dasharath Rangasala International Stadium in Kathmandu on Tuesday (September 13).
With the victory, the girls in green and red reached the semi-finals by collecting 9 points from three matches and becoming the group champions.
Meanwhile, India suffered their first loss in the history of the SAFF Women’s Championship.
Sirat Jahan Shopna scored two goals while Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar the other goal.
In the semis on Friday, Bangladesh will take on Bhutan while India will face hosts Nepal.
India had never lost a match in the history of the tournament winning 24 of their last 25 matches. Their only draw had been a 0-0 against Bangladesh in the 2016 edition. It was a humbling night for India but a monumental one for Bangladesh.
