BPL fixes payment for local, overseas players

The governing council of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has announced pay scale for local and overseas cricketers for upcoming edition. Separate remuneration has been fixed for locals and foreigner players. The highest category domestic cricketers will get Tk 80 lakh while foreign cricketers will get a maximum of 80,000 US dollars.

BPL Governing Council Chairman Sheikh Sohail and Council Member Secretary Ismail Haider Mallick confirmed the matter to the reporters on Monday (26 September).

The matches will be held at three venues in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet. There will be a total of 46 matches. This time, there will be no icon cricketer in the tournament. However, a cricketer can be included in the team on direct contract. Apart from this, franchises have to buy cricketers from players’ draft under 7 categories.

The highest category of local cricketers is ‘A’ while the lowest ‘G’. Maximum Tk 80 lakh and minimum Tk 5 lakh payment have been fiexed. For overseas cricketers, ‘A’ category players will get $80,000 dollars.

According to the announcement, cricketers under ‘A’ grade will be paid Tk 80 lakh, ‘B’ grade Tk 50 lakh, ‘C’ grade Tk, 30 lakh, ‘D’ grade Tk 20 lakh, ‘E’ grade Tk 15 lakh, ‘F’ grade Tk 10 lakh and ‘G’ grade Tk 5 lakh.
