Rain has interrupted the play of the first T20I of the three-match series between Bangladesh and Ireland with just 4 balls to go.
Bangladesh, thanks to a brilliant innings of Rony Talukdar’s half century, made 207-5 in 19.4 overs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Monday (March 27).
Rony Talukdar hit 67 runs off 38 balls with seven boundaries and three over-boundaries.
Litton Das scored 47 runs from 23 balls with four boundaries and three over-boundaries.
Shamim Hossain posted 30 runs off 20 balls with two boundaries and an over-boundary.
Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 14 runs from 13 balls with an over-boundary while Towhid Hridoy registered 13 runs off 8 balls.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were on the crease with 20 and 4 runs respectively.
Earlier, Ireland have won the toss and opted to field first.
Ireland will be looking to rebound in the T20I series, after a dismal showing in the just-concluded ODI series.
On the other hand, Bangladesh will be seeking for their third consecutive home series victory.
A few weeks back, Bangladesh showed England how difficult it is to defeat them at home. They humiliated England and denied them the chance to bounce back in the series.
