Bangladesh set 247-run target for Ireland

Bangladesh managed to set a 247-run target in the first ODI against Ireland at County Ground Chelmsford, England on Tuesday (May 09).

Thanks to Mushfiqur Rahim,s remarkable half-century on his Birthday, Bangladesh made 246-9 in 50 overs.

The visitors failed to make an ideal start as they lost opener Litton Das for nought in the very first over. IPL returnee Josh Little bowled an in-swinging yorker on off-stump, getting the right-hander out leg-before.

Captain Tamim Iqbal also got dismissed early by Mark Adair being edged to the wicket-keeper. Tamim faced 19 balls to score 14 with two boundaries while Shakib departed after scoring 20 off 21.

Following Shakib Al Hasan’s dismissal in the 12th over when the score was 52 for three, Najmul Hossain Shanto along with Tawhid Hridoy put together a 50-run stand.

Shanto scored 66-ball 44, was caught out at deep square-leg while trying to heave a length delivery bowled by Curtis Campher in the 22nd over when the score was 102.

Then Mushfiqur (61 off 70) carried the side registering the 44th ODI fifty with contributions from Mehidy Hasan Miraz (27) and Tawhid Hridoy 27.
