Mbappe breaks 65-year-old record

By scoring against Greece on Monday, Kylian Mbappe set a record that dated back to 1958.

Kylian Mbappe still a little more in the history of French football. During the match of the tricolor selection against Greece in the Euro qualifiers, he set a new mark for the large number of goals scored in a season by a French player.

France locked horns with Greece in the qualifiers of the 2024 Euros and it was a tough encounter as only a goal was scored in the entire 90 minutes. France won the game 1-0 courtesy of a brilliant strike from Paris St Germain talisman, Kylian Mbappe.

The game was a really tough encounter as both teams struggled to find the back of the net but the breakthrough for France finally came in the 55th minutes after Mbappe converted from the spot to put the Les Bleus ahead and that was all they needed to win the game.

Mbappe’s strike against Greece is his 54th goal for club and country this season and that’s the most for a Frenchman for 65 years which is an impressive record. This means that Mbappe has now become the first Frenchman to score 54 goals in 65 years and it’s something to be proud of.

The previous record dates back to 1958 and was held by the illustrious Just Fontaine.

Mbappe is currently one of the best players in the world known for his pace, speed, dribbling skills and breathtaking goals. He rose through the ranks at Monaco some couple of years back before making a big money move to Paris St Germain.
