Former Bangladesh one-day international captain Tamim Iqbal has claimed, “I never told anyone that I will not be able to play more than five matches in the World Cup”.
Tamim Iqbal clarified everything regarding his exclusion from the World Cup squad in a video massage after the Bangladesh team left for India on Wednesday afternoon.
Tamim said, “I was very much interested to play the World Cup. But, questions raised by the selectors about my fitness are irrelevant. A rumor spread that Tamim himself was not willing to play more than five matches. Shakib did not want to exclude Tamim after hearing this! Because of this, Tamim has been excluded from the World Cup squad. These are also baseless”.
“I want to clarify that I never told anyone at any moment that I will not be able to play more than five matches. I never said. Nannu bhai also clarified this yesterday”, he said.
"After that match I was very happy mentally. I was waiting to play again and waiting for the World Cup”, he said.
