Australian left-arm off-spinner Ashton Agar has been ruled out of the 2023 World Cup in India.
As per FoxSports, Agar has been ruled out of the World Cup in India starting next month after failing to recover from a calf injury. The spinner also missed Australia’s ODI trip to India after being ruled out of the T20I in South Africa against the hosts.
However, the 29-year-old has been named in Australia’s 15-member squad for the showpiece event and was a part of the spinning duo alongside Adam Zampa.
Agar has played 22 ODIs for Australia, claiming 21 wickets, of which six have come in Indian conditions in as many matches.
Cricket Australia is expected to finalise their final 15 for the World Cup today, which could see youngster Tanveer Sangha make his way into the squad. Other players expected to find their name in the revised Australian contingent are batter Marnus Labuschagne and Matthew Short._Agencies
