Afghanistan have set a challenging target of 292 runs for Australia in a match of the ICC World Cup in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Winning the toss, Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi seemed to be clear in his plan against the five-time ODI World Cup champions Australia.
In a must win battle against the mighty Aussies, opting to bat first, Afghanistan scored a fighting 291/5 at the Wankhede Stadium.
Afghanistan batting mainstay Ibrahim Zadran scored a gutsy century (129 in 143 balls, with 8 boundaries and 3 sixes) to keep his side's semi-finals hopes alive.
Though, he was expected to accelerate further after reaching his landmark three-figure score, but the Aussies did not allow him to score more freely in the slog overs.
Rahmat Shah and Ibrahim Zadran shared a 83-run partnership for the vital second wicket.
In the final overs, Rashid Khan played an entertaining unbeaten 35-run innings in just 18 balls. He once again proved his mettle as an utility batter lower down the order.
