Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by two wickets to seal a Super Four spot in the Asia Cup in Dubai on Thursday (September 1).
Following the two consecutive losses, the Bangladesh team was sent out of the tournament.
Earlier, Bangladesh set a 184-run target for the Sri Lankans. Afif Hossain scored 39 hitting four boundaries and two over boundaries. Besides, Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 38 runs playing 26 balls while Mosaddek Hossain scored 24 runs from nine balls.
In reply, chasing the huge target, Sri Lanka kept the pressure on Bangladeshi bowlers and reached the target in a thrilling mood.
The Lankan side required 34 runs off the last three overs. Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain, making his T20I debut, conceded 17 runs in the 19th over to let the advantage slip. Kusal Mendis was the highest scorer for Sri Lanka. He scored 60 runs from 37 balls.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Sri Lanka elected to field first against the Tigers.
