Uday Hakim receives Samaresh Basu Sahitya Award

Uday Hakim, travel story writer also advisory editor of popular online news portal risingbd.com has received Samaresh Basu Sahitya Award-2020.

The writer received the award at an awards programme held at National Press Club in the capital on Friday (March 6).

Cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam handed over the award, in presence of Syed Margub Morshed and Dr. Arup Ratan Choudhury.

This year, Uday Hakim got the award for his book titled 'Rohossomoy Adam Pahar'. Besides, Syed Hasan Imam, Selina Hossain, Sujata Azim, Rasel Ashiki, Dr Arup Ratan Choudhury, Shanarei Debi Shanu, Piash Majid, Mahbuba Laky, Mohammad Iqbal, Farhana Yeasmin, Seli Jaman Khan, Mamata Nur, Shikha Chowdhury, Jesmin Chowdhury and Wasim Haque have been rewarded.

Uday Hakim was born on 25 March in 1975 at Bordhonpara village under Mirzapur Upazila of Tangail District. After obtaining his graduation and post-graduation degrees in Mass Communication and Journalism from University of Dhaka, he worked 12 years in national Bangla dailies including Prothom Alo, Amar Desh, Kaler Kantha, Channel I and CSB Television.

Uday Hakim joined Walton Group in 2010. He is now working as Executive Director of the country’s electronics giant Walton.

From his childhood, he loves to write and travel. He has already traveled over 30 countries and wrote a lot of travelogues. Famous Indian-Bengali singer Nachiketa made an album with songs written by Uday Hakim.

He is also a part-time lecturer in the Journalism, Communication and Media Studies Department of the State University. In addition, he is a member of several organizations like The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Dhaka Reporters’ Unity, associate member of National Press Club and Tangail Press Club etc.
