Verdict in Hussaini Dalan bomb attack case today

A Dhaka court will deliver its verdict today (Tuesday) in the case filed over the 2015 Hussaini Dalan bomb attack in Old Dhaka before the traditional Tazia procession marking the holy Ashura.

Judge Mojibur Rahman of the Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal will deliver the verdict.

The court fixed the date after hearing closing arguments by the prosecution and defence on March 1.

The accused in the case are Kabir Hossain alias Rashed alias Asif, Rubel Islam alias Sumon alias Sajib, Abu Sayeed alias Salman, Arman alias Monir, Hafez Ahsan Ullah Mahmud, Shah Jalal, Omar Faruk amd Chan Miah, all members of banned militant outfit.

Masud Rana and Jahid Hasan are being tried at a juvenile court.

According to the case statement, on October 23, 2015, two persons were killed and over 100 others were injured when militants launched a grenade attack on a crowd on the Hussaini Dalan premises.

Later, Sub-inspector Jalal Uddin of Chawk Bazar Police Station filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act in this connection.
