Water cannon, sound grenades used to disperse dismissed BDR members

Police charged batons, used water cannons and fired sound grenades to disperse dismissed Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) members who blocked Kakrail Mosque intersection to press home their three-point demands.
The protesters took position in Shahbagh intersection this morning. Later, they tried to march towards the residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna.
Meanwhile, police stopped them in Kakrail Mosque area. At one stage, police gave them a 10-minute ultimatum to leave the area.
Later, police hurled sound grenades and used water cannons around 12:30 pm to disperse the protesters.
Ramna Police Station Inspector Atiqul Islam said, "DMP has banned any kind of meeting, rally, mass gathering, and procession in the secretariat, the official residence of the Chief Advisor 'Jamuna' and its surrounding areas."
