The caretaker system and Pakistan success

I personally think that not only I alone but almost 90% of the population of Bangladesh is positive and hopeful about a non-partisan “Caretaker Government” conducting and overseeing an open, inclusive, honest, transparent and accountable election in Bangladesh in 2014.
In the same vein, the international community is also vocal for a free and fair election in Bangladesh, construing that neither impartial and nor a free and fair election can be held under a partisan Awami League government in power.
This has been made both conspicuous and poignant by the fact that this ruling Awami League Government has over the last four years put the opposition on the run, with persecution and legal and extra-legal chains, arguably for perpetuating power.
They have also changed the “goal-post” for election to suit their agenda of probable perpetuation of power. The Awami League and its government’s acts and deeds have done away with a level playing field that is the sine qua non for a free and fair election.
The executive organs of the state have arguably been commandeered to serve political goals and objectives by steam-rolling the opposition, clear evidence that divested of a non-partisan “Care-taker Government,” it is almost impossible to conjecture a free and fair poll.

Any change is good change if it’s better for a nation. Although I am not a big fan of Pakistan, I do commend their efforts in “cleaning up their house” after a long struggle within.
No matter in which country a “good” change takes place, even in controversial states like Israel or Iran or even North Korea, the smartest move our “genius politicians” can make is to seek out the good things in it and emulate them to best serve our nation and its people.
Mind you...ONLY emulate the good things. There are so many examples of nations that have risen from ashes to glory. Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam.
Only if our “leaders” had the foresight to do that. Maybe one day. It’s bound to happen!
