1.6 crore people to leave Dhaka during Eid: Jatri Kalyan Samity

Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity claimed that this year, about 1 crore 60 lakh people will travel from Dhaka city to different districts of the country on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

Jatri Kalyan Samity Secretary General Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury made the demand at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) in the capital on Wednesday (March 27).

According to Jatri Kalyan Samity, one crore people from Dhaka, 40 lakh from Gazipur and 12 lakh from Narayanganj will travel to different districts of the country during Eid.

The organization has also urged the government to extend the Eid-ul Fitr vacation for two more days.

Jatri Kalyan Samity came up with the demand to reduce the suffering during the Eid journey, road accidents, unbearable traffic congestion, passenger harassment on the way, and fare anarchy.
