Two children drown in Chawai River 

Two children have drowned while bathing in the Chawai River of Panchagarh Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Almi Akter, 12, daughter of Abdul Aziz, and her niece Israt Jahan Sifat, 9, daughter of Saiful Islam, both residents of Chatannapara area under the upazila.

According to local, Sifat went down to the river to take bath in the afternoon and drowned there. Almi also drowned when she jumped into the river to rescue her.

Panchagarh Sadar Police Station sub-inspector Palash Chandra Roy confirmed news.
