Dr Sabrina placed on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court placed JKG Health Care Chairman and Cardiac surgeon of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury on a three-day remand in a fraud case filed for allegedly issuing fake Covid-19 results and charging patients for the test.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman passed the remand order after hearing in the case on Monday (July 13).
Earlier in the day, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Tejgaon Police Station Dewan Md Sobur, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced Sabrina before the court with a four-day remand prayer.
Lawyer for Sabrina prayed to the court to grant bail to her client seeking cancellation of the remand while the state opposed the bail.
After hearing both the sides, the court placed Sabrina on a three-day remand.
Earlier on Sunday (July 12) noon, a team of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury over her alleged involvement in issuing fake coronavirus results.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JKG Ariful Haque Chowdhury, also the husband of Dr Sabrina Chowdhury, has already been arrested over fraudulence in Covid-19 sample test and report delivery.
