NBR to freeze bank accounts of Shahed, Sabrina, Regent, JKG

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has sent a letter to all commercial banks through Bangladesh Bank (BB) requesting them to freeze the bank accounts of Regent Hospital and its Chairman Md Shahed and JKG Health Care and its Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury.
At the same time, the Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the NBR in the letter sought the detailed information and records of their bank accounts.
Besides, the NBR has also moved to freeze the bank accounts of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JKG Ariful Haque Chowdhury, also the husband of Sabrina Chowdhury, Regent K C Limited owned by Shahed and its director Ibrahim Khalil as well as sought the records of their banks accounts.
A source familiar with the NBR confirmed the matter on Sunday (July 12).
The move came as the authorities concerned have found that they are involved in issuing fake Covid-19 test results and charging patients for the test.
