30 private companies being allowed to import 83000MT rice  

The government is going to allow 30 private companies to import 83,000 tonnes of rice immediately (within a month) aiming to further arrest the rice price hike in the retail market across the country.

The food ministry sent a letter to the senior secretary of commerce ministry in this regard on Thursday (March 21).

The private importers have to market this amount of rice by April 25, according to the conditions.

The importing companies have to sell the rice in sacks directly in the market instead of re-packaging of these goods.
