Walton Hi-Tech receives National Environment Award

Vice-chairman of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited SM Shamsul Alam is receiving 'National Environment Award-2018' from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

Secretariat Correspondent: Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited (WHIL), a sister concern of the local leading electronics and electrical appliances manufacturer Walton Group, has achieved 'National Environment Award' of this year.

The company located at Chandra in Gazipur achieved the award in the category of 'Conservation of Environment and Pollution Control'.

At an inaugural function of the national tree plantation campaign and tree fair-2018 held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital at 10:00am on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the award to Vice-chairman of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited SM Shamsul Alam.

Four individuals and institutions have received the award in three categories for their outstanding contributions to environment protection and pollution control. Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited and Kushtia Pourashava jointly received the award in the category of 'Conservation of Environment and Pollution Control'.


Vice-chairman of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited SM Shamsul Alam, Walton Group Director SM Mahbubul Alam, Walton Group's Executive Director Eva Rizwana and others are with crest and credentials of 'National Environment Award' at their hands.

The prime minister also distributed crest, credentials, a cheque of Tk 50,000 and an amount equal to two tolas of gold (21 carat) among the winners.

This year’s theme of the 'National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair-2018 is “Live in green, save green, nature decorate with green”.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 30 lakh saplings plantation programme to pay tributes to 30 lakh martyrs of the country's Liberation War on the occasion of 'National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair' by planting a Chatim sapling on the BCCI compound.
