Probe committee submits report to VC

The investigation committee formed by Dhaka University (DU) submitted its report on the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo to the university authorities.

Professor Md Siddiqur Rahman Khan, dean of the Faculty of Arts and convener of the committee, formally handed over the report to Vice Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmad Khan at the VC's office on Monday morning (May 26).

Meanwhile, the other members of the committee were present there. The committee said the report was prepared following due process.

Earlier, on May 13, a group of miscreants stabbed Shahriar Alam Samya in the Dhaka University area. Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctor declared him dead.

He was a student of the Institute of Education and Research (IER) under the 2018–19 academic sessions and served as the literary and publication affairs secretary of Chhatra Dal’s A F Rahman Hall unit.
