Fishing ban in Kaptai Lake begins

The local administration has imposed a three-month ban on netting, marketing and transportation of fish from Kaptai Lake aiming to ensure proper natural reproduction and development of carp fish in the lake.

The ban will come into effect from Thursday midnight (April 25) and continue till July 24.

Deputy Commissioner of Rangamati Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan confirmed the news.

Fishermen who depend on fishing in the district will get food assistance during the ban period through a special Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) card.

Every year, the government imposes a three-month ban on fishing, marketing and transportation of fish from Kaptai Lake aiming to ensure natural breeding of fish.
