Khaleda’s jail term suspension extended for six more months

The government has extended the suspension of jail term awarded to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for six more months.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday. 

According to the notification, Khaleda Zia’s jail sentence suspension has been extended by another six months on several conditions. One of the conditions is that she will have to stay at her Gulshan house and will not leave the country. Since then, her release term has been extended every six months following the family's plea.

This is the eighth time the government has extended the suspension of Khaleda’s sentence. 

The suspension of the jail sentence of Khaleda Zia will be effective from 25 March. 

At this time, Khaleda Zia will receive treatment staying her residence and she is not allowed to travel abroad for treatment.
