Dhaka expressway construction stuck

The Appellate Division has issued a status quo on the transfer of shares of the Italian-Thai company to the Chinese company as per the Dhaka Elevated Expressway agreement. As a result, the construction of the expressway got stuck.
Eight-member Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan passed the order on Thursday (May 16).
Meanwhile, the court said there is no problem if the work is stopped for few more days.
Earlier, the High Court lifted its order of status quo on the transfer of Italian-Thai company's shares in Dhaka Elevated Expressway to China's Sinohydro Corporation Limited.
On Saturday, Barrister Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury, lawyer of the Chinese company said the court said that the disputes between the Thai and Chinese companies regarding the debts will be settled by the Singapore Arbitration Court.
