2nd phase polls to 10 municipalities March 20

Staff Correspondent: The second phase municipality elections will be held in 10 municipalities on March 20.
 
The election schedule was declared in a circular issued by Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday.

The municipalities are Rangpur’s Haragach, Brahmanbarhia, Jhalakatthi, Noakhali’s Kabirhat, Comilla’s Nangalkot, Faridpur’s Bhanga, Cox’s Bazar’s Chakoria and Maheshkhali, Jhenaidah’s Kaliganj and Feni’s Sonagazi.

The deadline for submitting nominations for contesting the polls is February 22. The election officials will scrutinise the papers on February 24 and 25.

The last day for withdrawing of nominations is March 4.

On December 30 last year, elections were held in 234 municipalities across Bangladesh, the first such elections to be held under party lines.
