6 shot in Bagerhat clash

Bagerhat Correspondent: At least six people have been shot injured in a clash between two groups over election of managing committee of a school of the district`s Morelganj upazila.
The incident happened at Sonakhlai Mohabbat Ali Secondary School around 10:30am on Tuesday.
Police held former up chairman Sikdar Mahbubur Rahman and his brother Mizanur Rahman over the incident.
Rashedul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Morelganj Police Station, said, "Awami League leader Sikdar Mahbubur Rahman and BNP leader Sikdar Khalilur Rahman are competeting in the election of Sonakhlai Mohabbat Ali Secondary School Managing Committee."
"People of both groups were locked into clash in the morning. At one stage, six people were shot injured. Of them, Abu Hossain Sikdar, 33, and Abu Hanif Sikdar, 38, were admitted to Khulna Medica College and Hospital. The others injured- Siddique Sikdar, 30, Sobhan Hawladar, 45, Tofazzel Sheikh, 40, and Kabir Hossain, 45, were taken to Morelganj Upazila Health Complex," he added.
